Typical functions

The functions within this job family will vary by level, but may include the following:

  • Conduct reviews and analyses of the financial records of individuals and corporations applying for a license to participate in gaming activities in the State of Missouri.
  • Conduct or assist in the conduct of financial reviews and analyses of income information, expenditures, and tangible assets of individuals and businesses with a vested interest in the issuance of a gaming license.

The work assigned to positions in this series ranges from direct performance of the described duties to managing and coordinating program activities and designing, planning, implementing, and managing reviews of the financial records.

Gaming Financial Analyst

This is a first-level professional position accountable for conducting reviews and analyses of the financial records of individuals and corporations applying for a license to participate in gaming activities in the State of Missouri. Work at this level involves conducting or assisting in the conduct of financial reviews and analysis of income information, expenditures, and tangible assets of individuals and businesses with a vested interest in the issuance of a gaming license.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

Knowledge of auditing techniques and accounting principles, practices, and methods. Knowledge of state and federal tax laws. Knowledge of examination techniques used in financial auditing.  Skill in interviewing personnel to obtain, verify, or clarify information. Ability to analyze financial and statistical records and reports. Ability to prepare clear and concise reports of financial information. Ability to travel extensively, operate a motor vehicle, and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.

Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)

Senior Gaming Financial Analyst

This is a second-level professional position accountable for developing and conducting in-depth reviews and analyses of the financial records of individuals and corporations applying for a license to participate in gaming activities in the State of Missouri. Work involves conducting financial reviews and analyses of income information, expenditures, and tangible assets of individuals and businesses with a vested interest in the issuance of a gaming license.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level: Ability to analyze detailed and complex financial and statistical records and reports. Ability to evaluate financial documents to determine impact on fiscal responsibilities.

Bachelor’s degree and 4 or more years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)

Gaming Financial Manager

This is a managerial financial analysis position accountable for designing, planning, implementing, and managing reviews of the financial records of individuals and corporations applying for a license to participate in gaming activities in the State of Missouri. At this level employees supervise a team of professional employees. Work requires advanced knowledge of laws and regulations and the ability to address program operational and technical issues and problems. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations, training, planning and assigning work, performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to monitor and review the work overseen. Employees may also participate in fiscal management to include budget development and monitoring of expenditures.
