General summary

This is a professional specialized teaching position (e.g., Special Education, Adult Education, and Literacy, etc.) accountable for developing curriculum and lesson plans, and planning and implementing course content and methods to meet the needs of state facility clients. Employees at this level are accountable for classroom discipline; adhering to State and Federal testing guidelines and mandates; preparing reports based on client attendance, and performance, progress, and skills assimilation.  In addition, employees may be accountable for developing and overseeing the implementation of IEPs (specific to individuals with special needs).

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous levels:  Knowledge of educational testing and principles and methods of remedial education.  Ability to maintain proper discipline.

Typical qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and specialized certification. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
