General summary

This is a managerial position accountable for overseeing the State’s central budget office. At this level, incumbents are responsible for the coordination of multiple resources, scheduling and prioritization of work, evaluation and presentation of budgets and related analyses to senior state leadership, and management of supervisors. Management responsibilities include hire recommendations, training, planning and assigning work, performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Management at this level also requires employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.  

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous levels: Knowledge of managerial techniques and administrative practices. Skill in analyzing and identifying legislative impact on agency budgets. Ability to manage numerous projects of varying priority.

Typical qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, 4-6 years of relevant experience, and 1-2 years of supervisory experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
