General summary

This is a professional position accountable for developing and conducting research studies; assessing the impact of proposed legislation; and presenting findings to state and federal agencies, senior policy makers, the legislature, and other stakeholders. At this level, employees advise on economic policy; evaluate and review complex technical information; and prepare comprehensive analyses, plans, and reports.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of modern economic principles and theories and their application to research and planning. Skill in financial and econometrical modeling. Ability to analyze, interpret, and explain economic and statistical data, and to present complex information with clarity and precision to professional, technical, and non-technical audiences.  

Typical qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree and 0-2 years of experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
