This is a managerial firefighting position accountable for directing fire, rescue, and medical treatment services operations. Work involves planning and directing the operations of multiple shifts of firefighting crews at an assigned location. At this level, an employee will assist the Fire Chief with the fire department’s planning and administrative functions. Additional duties include directing the response to fire alarms and emergency medical service (EMS), incidents to contain or extinguish fires, and emergency medical activities; serves as incident commander.
In addition to those identified in the previous levels: Knowledge of policies and procedures related to the fire department’s support activities including budget, procurement, and personnel.
7 or more years of firefighting experience and 2 or more years of supervising multiple firefighting crews.
